Our bookclub completed our mock Canada Reads contest.

We used a process of elimination as they do on the "real" contest.

Eliminated First

Eliminated Second

Eliminated Third
Eliminated Fourth

WINNER
Everyone defended their book well. The Orenda was not named in any of our elimination rounds so it was a clear winner. All of the others were named by more than one person. For my first year reading all of the books before the contest I see why they were picked. I too found The Orenda the most compelling read but all have qualities that "changed my mind, my heart, maybe my life although the jury is still out for me on how much any of them can change our country. Pretty bold task for any book. It will be interesting to see how close we came to the real vote in March.

All are described as stories that can “change your heart, change your mind, change your life and, ultimately, change our country.”
From March 3 to 6, each book will be defended on a live CBC Radio broadcast, hosted by Q’s Jian Ghomeshi.
